Effective date: 12 May 2026 · Last updated: 30 September 2026
Plain-English summary: VocaLab is a vocal training and voice-health app for adults. By creating an account you agree to these terms. The important bits: you must be 18 or over, we're not medical professionals, subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel, and your voice audio is processed on your device. Nothing is uploaded unless you choose to save a recording to your private Vault.
These terms were last updated on 30 September 2026. If you had an account before that date, they apply to you from 14 October 2026; until then the previous version applies.
VocaLab is run by Lydia Pallot, a sole trader based in England, trading as VocaLab ("we", "us", "our"). You can contact us at vocalab.app@gmail.com.
These terms govern your use of the VocaLab mobile application (iOS) and the website at vocalab.ai (together, the "Service").
Availability. The Service is offered to users outside the European Economic Area (EEA) and is not directed at, or available to, residents of the EEA.
When you create an account you confirm that you are 18 or over and that you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
You must be 18 or over to create an account or use the Service. We ask for your date of birth when you sign up to check this, and we don't store it. If we find that an account belongs to someone under 18, we'll close it. We'll give notice where we can and a chance to export your data, and refund any payment for a period you haven't had.
You must provide accurate information when creating your account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.
You must notify us immediately at vocalab.app@gmail.com if you believe your account has been compromised.
VocaLab provides vocal training tools, voice health monitoring, and educational content for singers and voice users. Features include:
VocaLab offers:
Current prices are shown on our pricing page and in the app before you subscribe.
You can subscribe in two ways, with different sellers:
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or annually) until you cancel. For web subscriptions, cancel any time before your renewal date using Change plan or cancel in Account settings. For App Store subscriptions, cancel in your iPhone's Settings at least 24 hours before renewal, as Apple requires. When you cancel, you keep access until the end of the period you've paid for and you won't be charged again.
We may change our prices. If we do, we'll email you at least 30 days before the new price applies to your subscription. If you don't want to pay the new price, you can cancel before it takes effect and you won't be charged it. App Store prices are also subject to Apple's notices.
You normally have 14 days from purchase to cancel a web subscription. At checkout you can ask us to start your subscription straight away. If you do, and you confirm you understand this, you lose that 14-day right once your access begins. Your purchase receipt confirms this. This doesn't affect your rights if the Service is faulty (see 5.6). If the law treats the Service as a service rather than digital content, you can still cancel within 14 days and we'll refund what you paid, less a fair amount for the time you've had access.
To cancel, tell us by email or use the model cancellation form at the end of these terms (you don't have to use it).
We don't give refunds if you change your mind after your subscription has started, except where the law requires it. If the Service doesn't work as described, isn't of satisfactory quality or isn't fit for purpose, you're entitled to have it fixed, and if we can't fix it within a reasonable time, to a refund of some or all of what you paid. Contact vocalab.app@gmail.com. App Store refunds are handled by Apple.
You can upgrade or downgrade using Change plan or cancel in Account settings. Upgrades take effect immediately and you pay only the difference for the rest of the current period. Downgrades take effect at your next renewal, and you keep your current plan until then.
Every feature that uses your microphone (pitch detection, real-time vocal analysis, voice-quality scoring) processes the audio on your device only. Live analysis audio is not transmitted to our servers (see 6.3 for recordings you choose to save).
The microphone audio used for real-time analysis is processed transiently on your device and is not uploaded to or stored on our servers. We have no access to it. Only the metrics derived from your voice (such as pitch, range and voice-quality scores) are saved to your account.
Saving recordings is optional and off by default. If you explicitly choose to save a take to your Vault, that recording's audio is uploaded to your private cloud storage, linked to your account, so you can play it back. It is access-controlled to you, never shared, and used only to provide that playback feature.
You can delete any saved recording from your Vault at any time, along with your saved practice data and voice metrics. Deleting your account permanently removes your account and all associated data, including saved recordings, except records we must keep for tax and legal claims (see our Privacy Policy, section 6). See our Privacy Policy for full details on data retention.
Important: VocaLab is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice. Vocal health features (hydration tracking, fatigue monitoring, strain indicators) are for informational and educational purposes only. They are not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. If you have concerns about your vocal health, consult a qualified healthcare professional or speech and language therapist.
Stop using vocal exercises and see a GP or an ENT specialist if you have pain, lose your voice, or hoarseness lasts more than two weeks.
The vocal health metrics VocaLab provides (hydration reminders, vocal load estimates, fatigue indicators) are based on general vocal pedagogy research and your self-reported data. They should not be relied upon for clinical decisions.
You agree not to:
We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms (see section 13.2).
If you publish a routine, its name and description become visible to anyone, including people without an account. You license us to host and display that content while it is public. You must not publish unlawful, infringing or abusive content. You can make a routine private or delete it at any time, and you can report others' content using the in-app report button; we may remove content that breaches these terms.
The Service, including its design, code, graphics, exercises, educational content, and branding, is owned by Lydia Pallot and protected by copyright and intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from our content without written permission.
You retain ownership of all content you create through the Service, including the voice metrics we derive from your audio, session logs, and progress data. By using the Service, you grant us a limited licence to store, process, and display your content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you. This licence ends when you delete your content or your account.
This includes any voice recordings you choose to save to your Vault. You own your recordings. By saving one, you ask us to store it on our infrastructure so we can provide the playback feature back to you, and you grant us the limited licence needed to do that — nothing more. We do not claim any rights beyond operating the feature, and you can delete a saved recording at any time.
VocaLab integrates with third-party services to operate. These include:
See our Privacy Policy for what each processor receives and where it is stored.
Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms. We are not responsible for third-party service availability or their handling of your data beyond what we control.
We aim to keep VocaLab available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control.
If we break these terms or don't use reasonable care and skill, we're responsible for loss you suffer that was a foreseeable result. Loss is foreseeable if it's obvious it will happen or if we both knew it might when you subscribed. We aren't responsible for loss that wasn't foreseeable, for business losses, or for loss caused by events outside our control. Pitch, vocal-health and other analytics are guides, not guarantees of accuracy. Our total responsibility to you is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or £100. None of this limits your legal rights as a consumer, including under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, or our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
You can stop using the Service at any time. Cancel a web subscription with Change plan or cancel in Account settings, or an App Store subscription in your iPhone's Settings. Deleting your account doesn't cancel your subscription on its own, so cancel first. To delete your account and all associated data, use Delete account in Account settings.
We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, act fraudulently or abusively, are under 18, or if the law requires it. We'll give you reasonable notice where we can. If we close your account for any other reason, including stopping the Service, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice and refund any payment for the period you haven't had.
Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends immediately. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (intellectual property, limitation of liability, governing law) will continue to apply.
We may update these terms to reflect changes in the law, our Service or how we run it. For important changes, we'll email you at least 14 days before they take effect. If you don't agree, you can cancel before they take effect, and if you've prepaid for a period you won't receive, we'll refund that part.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring proceedings in the courts of England and Wales or, if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, in the courts where you live. If you live outside the UK, you keep any mandatory consumer rights of your home country.
